Under Twenty Eight, the opening track on Mister Rabbit’s new EP, The Era Of Good Feelings, laments times spent on the road back when being in a band was a bit easier – back before the real world & life beat you into submission. Back when the most important part of the band was getting in the room to create together.
It’s fitting then that the band spent 2 days in April of 2024 in a room together at Hamilton, Ontario’s Boxcar Sound with Sean Pearson (Engineer) & Matt Snell (Producer), tracking these songs as a unit live-off-the-floor (vocals & overdubs were tracked later). The fruits of their labor have resulted in 5 songs that use urgency & passion as their greatest asset.
Drawing on the influence of their early years in Southern Ontario’s emerging punk & emo scenes, mixing with more contemporary rock & emo artists, Mister Rabbit have expanded on the sound of their first LP, End Of History Illusion. They have maintained their strong song-writing and interesting band dynamics of unique guitar leads combined with compelling vocal melodies, while the rhythm section lays a solid, more robust foundation to hold up feedback-laden and fuzzed-out guitars.
The Era Of Good Feelings will be released everywhere on October 10th with the band touring in support of it over the course of the fall.
Mister Rabbit is: Mitch Clark (guitar), Ryan Mickeloff (drums), Sean Smith (bass, vocals), Jeff van Helvoort (vocals, guitar)
